Why We Created TurnCal


The Problem with Vacation Rental Management

We created TurnCal because we own two long-term rentals and two short-term rentals. The short-term rentals were taking a ton of time to manage communication between our cleaners and to keep track of when exactly they had seen the bookings or not.

One of the houses we rent is four individual bedrooms in a five-bedroom house. And so there’s four individual booking sites for that house. We added our cleaner as a co-host, but she didn’t have all the details she needed and the logins were messing up and she was a co-host on other properties so she had to constantly be logging in and jumping around between different Airbnb or VRBO apps which is really cumbersome and unnecessary.

The cleaner for our other property tends to use spreadsheets and calendar screenshots to do his planning and does all of his planning and scheduling over text message. So it’s really cumbersome to constantly be taking screenshots and messaging every time there’s a new booking.

The Solution: TurnCal

So for both of these reasons, we created TurnCal to make it simple and easy to share a calendar so that a cleaner can make the decisions they need to make without all the communications overhead and complexity.

With TurnCal, cleaners can see all bookings in one place, no matter which platform they came from. They can plan their schedule efficiently without jumping between apps or waiting for text messages with screenshots. And property owners like us can stop spending so much time coordinating and communicating basic booking information.

How It Works

TurnCal pulls in booking data from all major vacation rental platforms via iCal links and presents it in a clean, simple calendar interface. Cleaners get notified automatically when new bookings come in, and they can manage their schedule right in the app. (coming soon!)
